What’s something you do completely differently from how you were raised?
I am very respectful of my beginnings and the love, support and sheer hard graft my parents put into provide a platform for myself and my brother to make decisions.
As I have recorded before I left home early, long before my elder brother. It was the beginning of a journey I’ve never looked back on.
My example for this post is, my family have no history of examining our European colonial past and our brutal history of actually dismantling First Nation peoples culture well into the 1950’s when I was born and beyond; the Stolen Generations of hundreds and thousands of children compulsorily removed from their parents, leading many to their unmarked graves, is a shameful colonial history for the British Empire, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
I am proud to have written ‘The Corleone Christ’, which explores this and other aspects our colonial power,something none of my own family ancestors have any history of thinking about, let alone writing about!
