The decision — 2008
A dark, buried story underneath a cold and heavy stone.
GJ Mann came to a decision to embark on this story in 2008 when two Prime Ministers, one in Australia and the other in Canada, both apologised for their State funded Policies to steal many thousands of small children from their First Nation parents and communities. However, there wasn’t time available in a busy family and professional life to investigate and write.
Since then, the USA and New Zealand made similar Presidential and Prime Ministerial apologies; it was clear that in all four nations hundreds of thousands of children were stolen. There was a dark, buried story underneath this cold and heavy stone. Eventually GJ Mann began digging and researching, all the way back to the incredible human journey out of East Africa.

Even today in 2026, the bodies of young children are still being discovered and exhumed.
