A dark, buried story underneath a cold and heavy stone.

Memorial to the Stolen Generations

The title for this blog is a quotation from the ‘About’ page on my new website: gjmann.org.

Firstly, I want to acknowledge the inspiration for this blog. Since writing and publishing ‘The Corleone Christ’, I’ve been honoured to be a blogging ‘ally’ of the Deadly Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders’ Forum (Mob and Allies). Looking through some posts I recently found one by a ‘Top Contributor,’ Edmund Barstow, who was writing about the USA Federal Investigation report 2024 into Native Indian children removed from their parents into Boarding Schools for assimilation and cultural erasure purposes. The tagline for a USA policy lasting some 150 years was to, ‘Kill the Indian, save the man.’

The thing I respected about his piece was, Edmund made connections with the Stolen Generations of Australia and the Boarding Schools in the USA.

In 2008, after I heard two Prime Ministers apologise to their Parliaments, in Canada and Australia, I decided then that when I had time I would research this and write a book on the material. Just five months separated these apologies.

In Australia independent reports like ‘Bringing Them Home’ acknowledged the 70 years of government policy of the Stolen Generations was a human rights abuse met the criteria for a cultural genocide; in Canada the ‘Truth and Reconcilliation Commission acknowledged that the Canadian policy had run for 150 years and was a cultural genocide.

While these apologies were close together in time, the thing that drew my attention was huge gap in miles distance between these countries. It seemed to me that crimes were so similar, these colonial nations had to be conspiring over what were state funded policies.

When I began writing and nearing publication of ‘The Corleone Christ’, two more political leaders of their colonial nations apologised to in 2024. President Biden apologised in the USA and Prime Minister Luxton apologised in New Zealand. In New Zealand an independent Royal Commission Inquiry into 70 years of the removal of Maori children from their parents, found state funded severe abuses, but did not acknowledge cultural genocide; the USA Federal Report acknowledged state ‘cultural erasure’ and total assimilation. Like the other colonial nations children have been located, buried in unmarked graves.

Again, the distance between these two colonial nations in miles is huge but the crimes still followed the pattern already acknowledged in Australia and Canada; more evidence of a four colonial nations acting together in a conspiracy.

Added together with this, there has to be a silent partner in the U.K.; three of these colonial nations, like the U.K. itself, are formally constituted as Constitutional Monarchies. A line of British monarchs served as Heads of State over 150 years in Canada and 70 years in New Zealand and Australia. The U.K. itself is a Constitutional Monarchy. Surely, all these five nations, with huge colonising histories, were aware of these buried policies and the burials of First Nation children in unmarked graves.

Today, in the aftermath of political apologies, people in all these nations are still searching for the unmarked graves of small children using Ground Penetrating Radar. This dark, criminal story, buried underneath this cold and heavy stone will increasingly be told by children who died and were buried by state funded actors, many of them believing themselves to be people of Christian faith.

Finally, it is worth remembering that these four colonial nations, the USA, New Zealand, Australia and Canada were amongst some of very few others who voted together in the United Nation in 2007, against the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Later on they changed their minds.

As an author of a trilogy Political Crime Thrillers, ‘The Corleone Christ’, the evidence just builds and builds into the ‘excavation’ by ‘The Buried Doctrine’. On my website you can find the beginnings of the second volume: ‘The Corleone Christ – The Bounty Hunter’.
